....goodness knows I love beautiful things but sometimes all it takes is the simple things to make it just a really lovely day....
....a beautiful sunny London day, blue skies an' all....
.....that "Me too!" feeling with a friend....
....late night cheese and wine with a friend (even if means you don't get to bed til 1.30am on a school night)....
....the prospect of dinner out tonight with your girlfriends....
.....a visit to your happy place, in my case the hair salon, for a blow dry....
....your 5 year old remembering the new words he learned not just yesterday but from a whole week ago....
....your brother texting you something so funny you have to stop in the street to call him back and laugh out loud....
.....a friend emailing you something just because she would thought it would be "you"....
....making a dessert so delicious that when your husband arrives home, it's the first thing your children tell him about....
....eating nothing but the above-mentioned dessert for lunch (having resisted having it for breakfast)....
....getting out your suitcases to pack....
....checking in online for next week's trip to Italy (only 7 more sleeps)....
....loving the crumpled tulip that your son gave you - even though you know he picked it up the florist's floor when you were in there yesterday buying flowers....
....reviving the tulip today and seeing how clever your son thinks you are....
....your husband calling to let you know he will be home early just because he knows you are going out (even though you know that in fact his team is playing a big match on TV at 7pm)....
....meeting your cooler-by-the-day almost 10-year-daughter from school for lunch and having her link arms with you spontaneously as you head back to school and her making such funny faces that you both fall about laughing so hard that you have to plead with her to stop....
....and finally, only one more school day til it's half-term holidays - those holidays always arrive at just the right time for children and parents!!
