On Friday evening our neighbors' son turned three so a party was of course in order. Now, I will admit I have had some over the top birthdays and have come to notice that parities in foreign countries seem to be much more extravagant. Friday's party was lovely and it also serves as evidence for the above statement.
On Thursday evening at 11pm I heard all this loud noise outside the office so I opened the curtain and found three men crowded on one the small balcony tying large pieces of bamboo together. We soon discovered they were "constructing" a tent that would cover the entire yard, driveway and part of the street.

The tent ended up being lovely- you can see the draped light blue and red fabric across the entire top and down all the sides so it too went with the theme.
The food at the party was wonderful. They had a HUGE buffet with numerous station; there was made-to-order pasta and salad, chicken burgers, loads of cold sides, children's favorites and the staple Indian dishes too.
Of course no Indian birthday would be complete without rides. Not just one ride, but four is more like it. From spinning tea cups (think Disney) to airplanes to a little train that went round and round they had it all! Of course there was a proper train conductor that kept everyone entertained as well a magician. Every child also left the party with a large wrapped gift- oh to be young again and get such a great party favor! All in all the party was just delightful (and thankfully the tent was not taken down in the middle of the night on Thursday, but instead on Friday during the day)!
