Once again, my week has flown by....the children have been busy with activities, my brother came to visit, we went to the movies, went into town and shopped up a storm.....phew!

As part of my "Summer of Reading"....I read two fabulous books this week.

One Day (Vintage Contemporaries Original)  The Glass Castle: A Memoir

"One Day" is without question my book of 2010...I absolutely loved it, literally couldn't put it down, could relate to so much of it and just fell in love with the characters. Please please read it!

"The Glass Castle" was also an excellent read....a quite astonishing true story of the author's very tough childhood with some absolutely jaw-dropping moments of "parenting" (in its very loosest sense)....I found it incredibly moving and actually cried when I finished it....

I have also been trying to catch up with "Grey's Anatomy"....I am only a very new convert to it....started Season 3 tonight.....and am loving it....so much for early nights this week!

This week-end will be spent packing and preparing to go away to France next week....lots to do still!

Finally, I am dedicating this post to Jean P.....I have no email for you Jean....so can't write to thank you for leaving me a couple of very special comments....I was truly so touched by what you said, more than you can possibly imagine, your words will stay with me for a long time....
Thank you so much....my very best wishes to you....I hope you read this.

Happy Week-end everyone!

(this made me smile!)

Emily Blunt in George Chakra....

Another week has flown by.....thank you for the love and support - and for the new followers - I've had some lovely comments this week.

I saw a couple of good movies this week......"Nine" which I loved.....some great performances, particularly by Daniel Day-Lewis and Marion Cotillard....set in 1960's Rome, it was visually stunning. I also saw "It's Complicated...." which was a very entertaining comedy....wonderful acting by Meryl Streep and John Krasinski - I was a little undecided on Alec Baldwin. As usual in a Nancy Meyers movie, the location is a whole character in itself.....Meryl Streep's character Jane lives in a Santa Barbara house to die for....and just wait til you see The Bakery where she works - and her vegetable patch...gorgeous!!

My husband is skiing in Austria with friends for 5 days....so this week-end, weather permitting, the children and I will be tourists in town for the day and I will be catching up on some movies, finishing a couple of books, making cookies and putting on face packs....and enjoying having the bed to myself....hopefully :)

Happy Week-end!

Golden Globes 2010.....my favourite dresses....

Marion Cotillard looked fabulous in Christian Dior in the most gorgeous shade of green....it was hard to choose between her and Penelope....but Marion just sneaked it....

I also saw Marion interviewed live on the red carpet and her make-up looked wonderful....I had to include this close-up....

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive - I saw her interviewed and she looked A-MAZ-ING!

Sofia Vergara in one of my favourite dresses of the night....

Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace....this dress looked even better "live" on television....

Emily Blunt looked fabulous in a tulle dress by Dolce & Gabbana....

Jennifer Morrison....

Maggie Gyllenhall in Roland Mouret....

Colin Firth and his wife Livia Giuggioli....

Zoe Saldana in Louis Vuitton....

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino....

Fergie in Elie Saab....

Lea Michelle in Oscar de la Renta....

Halle Berry in KaufmanFranco....

Glenn Close....

I managed to stay up and watch most of the Red Carpet coverage at the Golden Globes last night....we are eight hours behind LA. Lots of fabulous dresses....and a few not so good choices too. It was interesting seeing how all those actresses managed in the LA rain after spending hours in hair and make-up! I know that these awards ceremonies are a big deal and so many people have a little - or a lot - of cosmetic help just beforehand....maybe we are all getting better at spotting it, but I was surprised to see quite a few very famous faces looking slightly...well, startled to be honest. I did giggle too at one actress, literally shuffling her way down the red carpet and barely able to walk in her extremely tight dress - she looked fabulous when she stopped and posed for the cameras but when it was time to move.....yikes! Goodness knows how she sat down for lunch or dinner.
