. . . palest pink and floods of light, fashion designer jennifer nicholson's santa monica home is an enchanting mix of beautiful things -- jewel-laden mirrors and crystal chandeliers, gilt tables and intricately laid marble floors, glamorous mirrored consoles and luxe floral wallpaper, vintage leopard print velvet and best of all, an impossibly romantic seashell-encrusted fireplace . . .

{autumn afternoons}

friday's happy weekend posts have somehow fallen away to weekend plans -- sometimes suitcases to pack or dinner reservations, but always excitement for the days ahead -- this weekend was moments in the still-warm september sun, afternoons in dusky cafés and evenings in candlelight, remembering rustling leaves and starlight and enveloped in the magic of autumn . . .

hope you had a beautiful weekend!

. . . back from an idyllic weekend in the countryside and still dreaming of deep, rich tones for the coming days when the sound of fallen leaves breaks the mid-afternoon silence and warm and romantic fireplaces crackle with newly chopped wood and everywhere, dark rich hues -- the colours of autumn . . .

. . . and here, carter smith's
photographic work, intermingled with the warm deep colours of his darkly cozy home . . .

. . . a late hazy august morning, sipping coffee and falling in love with the soft, understated elegance of rachel ashwell's london flat, where every room feels like a dreamy and languid late-summer's afternoon enveloped in a soft and delicate light and the warmth of shades of palest pink and bits of gold . . .

Flipping through a past issue of domino and happily came across Alexander Wang's NYC apartment {above, styled by Lili Diallo} and remembered completely falling for its perfect mix of rock + refined -- a Terry Richardson photo hangs above the bed and beside a fantastically pretty flea market dresser about which Wang has said, "People are so self- conscious and afraid of things that might make them look cheesy. The coolest people are the ones who aren't afraid to look like dorks."

. . . my wonderful friend felicity always sends along the most amazing things, and freunde von freunden is one of them: a berlin-based selby-esque {perhaps a little more gritty & artsy} project by german design agency no more sleep, that documents the agency's friends, partners and creative people around berlin in their living or workspace; overflowing with visual details, the shots are glimpses that feel like an exclusive look behind the scenes . . .
