Baby Shower: Flowers

Happy early mother's day to all the wonderful mothers, care givers and women that someday hope to be mother's!

"Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31, 28- 30

Today, my mother threw a baby shower for my cousins. We spent the last few days preparing to celebrate the coming birth of the very first great grandchild in the family and were thrilled with how everything came together. Since I took so many photos tonight I am going to highlight just the flowers. I have always thought that floral arranging is more of a skill you are born with rather than one that you acquire and I think the following photos prove my theory. My mother did a PHENOMENAL job with all the flowers around the home.

Believe it or not, with exception of the magnolia, all the flowers were purchased at Lund's (MN grocery store), Costco and WalMart!

My mother had saved all the containers (seen above) she received flowers in when I was born and the were perfect for the shower!

The arrangement in the entry was our personal favorite!

On Friday we thought we needed to dress up of the little Silver Cross pram so what better a way than fill it with more flowers! Please note that the outside of the house still needs to be painted- it is a work in progress, but coming along wonderfully!

Stargazer lilies to match a painting in!

Mother order tussy mussies for the mother, grandmother and great grandmother-to-be. We presented these to each of the guests of honor with special Bible verses about motherhood.

A parasol filled with our beloved Peter and greenery greeted all our guests.

Even the planters on the porch were ready for the shower.

No space was left without fresh flowers- flowers, flowers everywhere!

While the two large arrangements on the dining room table were one of the main attractions mother also filled my old Peter Rabbit tea pots with flowers for additional flair. It made all the difference!

Another container from when I was born sat on a side table in the living room. I spy Peter Rabbit.

Everything came together perfectly! Fresh flowers are such a treat and lovely arrangements can set the tone for any event!
