Call my crazy (and make fun of me), but I HATE getting my hair wet when swimming. I never used to understand why my mother would only daintily walk/wade around the pool when I was a child. I thought it seemed so boring and odd and thought the days she got her hair wet were extra special. Well, now that I have to actually blow dry my hair I totally understand where she was coming from. When you have thick hair that is not easy to style (especially when there is lots of humidity in the air) there really is no sense in messing it up and wasting hours of your relaxing vacation under a blow dryer. So, thank goodness for swim caps!
They may be funny looking and yes, people might make fun of you for wearing one, but when I can go from pool to shower to dinner when on vacation I have not a worry in the world! They seem to be a thing of the past so in today's day and age stylish swim caps are hard to come by. However, I was able to find a few fun (and rather retro) waterproof headpieces:
Headcovers Petal Cap ($15)
Nike Swirl Swim Cap ($11)
Headcovers Ruffle Cap ($16)

Now, if only I had gotten my act together earlier I could be taking one of these to St. John's. I suppose my pretty and ever-so-stylish hot pink swim cap will have to foot the deal this time around. At least the neon pink will keep me from getting lost in the ocean and left by our boat, right?!
