....the blogging world is a funny place....a special place....
...names become familiar to you and sometimes, often for no particular reason, you are drawn to them....
....I had seen Summer's name over at our friend Jenni's blog many times....
....but over the week-end, prompted by Jenni, I went over to Summer's blog to say hi....
....over the week-end Summer and I emailed....
....this is Summer and her Daddy....Mr Butch Bailey....
....when I asked Summer to describe her Daddy to me, she said simply....
"He's my best friend...."
She also added, when I asked her for a little bit more about him....
"Daddy loves music, all sweets (especially York Peppermint Patties), chewing gum, collecting old coins, restoring old cars, comfy socks, anything to make him more comfy during this tough time. He has two dogs that he adores more than anything. Well, not more than his fam. :) Oh and his favorite way to end a letter is by drawing a goofy smiley face with this quote-"like two fried eggs, keep your sunny side up.""
Butch was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer in March/April and has been through chemo and radiation since then....
....right now he is having precautionary brain radiation which he says is worse than all his previous treatments combined....it is really hard on him....and those around him too....
Summer is in New York City and Butch is in Louisiana....
....Butch is also out of work due to the oil spill and so a few months ago Summer started her "A Dollar & A Card for Daddy" plan to help him with basics such as gas to get him to and from his hospital appointments....money is tight....
....for every dollar or card or gift that Butch receives, Summer is donating one hour volunteer time in NYC to give back....
....Butch is the Daddy who was always there for Summer and her sister and now she is doing her absolute best to support and be there for him....
....it's a really scary time....
....I have to also tell you that Summer is scheduling IVF no. 5 right now....
....this is a girl with a lot on her plate....

....something about Summer and Butch really touched my heart and I wanted to help....
....I believe if you can help someone, then you should do so....
....and sometimes, it's the small things that make all the difference....
I am lucky enough to have 751 lovely people follow my blog....
....from all around the world....
....and today I would love to ask you ALL to send Butch a card....
....it can be just a postcard from where you live.....
just to say Hi.....and anything else you would like to tell him....
....it will take minutes but will make a HUGE difference....
....to Butch and to Summer....

Sometimes in life - more than others - we really need to feel that the world is on our side and not against us....and it doesn't take a lot sometimes to give someone that feeling....
