{one late october afternoon}

. . . and after all the shades of mustard, wheat, and honey from recent photographs of our weekends away, was reminded again how warm yellow can be this time of year, especially when intermingled with deep wood tones and gold . . .

{happy october + pale autumn blue}

. . . the soft colours of the recent runway shows -- feathery pink, whispy violet, muted coral and ecru -- and this week's calming greens and champagne hues bring dreams of smokey, palest autumn blue, the kind the appears in hazy, early-autumn light . . .

happy october! hope your week has been wonderful so far,
xo

{happy september + the countryside}

. . . there's something about the crisp early morning breezes of September that always reminds me of the countryside and although am always a little wistful to see summer's end, Autumn has its own particular loveliness . . .

. . . the last day of august and how it has arrived so quickly is a mystery, and while the early morning air has become a little cooler, the sun still shines warmly and whether it's ribbons or tulle, stripes on a chair or a soft cashmere sweater, whether in shades of monticello or azalea, somehow, the last days of summer always feels like pink . . .

{p.s.} today is also p's birthday and we're off to lose ourselves in beautiful things . . . à bientôt & hope your week is off to a perfect start xo

. . . was absolutely delighted to be included in martha stewart's best of the blogs: editors' picks in september 2008 when {this is glamorous} had barely just begun . . . and now, nearly two years later, have just discovered that this blog has been included in the september {print!} issue of martha stewart living, as one of the ms decorating editors' favorite blogs to bookmark! such a wonderful, unimaginably beautiful year it has been . . .

thanks so much for coming along with me,

xo

{beautiful details: paint-dipped baskets}

. . . and while we're on the topic of wicker, a chance to flip through the latest issue of martha stewart living on the weekend over coffee, and absolutely fell in love with these summer-perfect paint-dipped wicker baskets -- whether dipped or brushed on, such a simple and simply wonderful way to give market and beach baskets a stylish update . . .

{colour inspiration: buttercream}

. . . fashionably late once more and it's quickly becoming clear that things will continue to be a little sporadic around here as summertime's chaos continues and that's what makes it so beautiful -- the dashing about, the projects & plans and late lunches -- only to slow things down {just a little} on weekends, when the world slips away and there is nothing left but the sound of crashing waves and everything comes in shades of buttercream . . .

hope you're having a wonderful week,
xo

{recent colour inspiration:}
* petal pink & french grey
* driftwood
