Snow, Lights and London

Christmas in town today.....lights and decorations everywhere....I always think that, of the cities I have visited, New York City has the best Christmas decorations....but actually London looked beautiful today.

Oxford Street and Regent Street were lovely this year (and they aren't always)
Bond Street was gorgeous - special mentions for Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Asprey and Tiffany & Co....and Selfridges was, as always, far ahead of every other store with the creativity of its many windows, we loved it, definitely our favourite!

I just love being able to slow down during the school holidays, taking the time to really appreciate things, to talk more and just to relax....although I have to say that 5pm this afternoon in Hamleys (London's largest toyshop) didn't feel too relaxing ;)

I loved watching my children's reactions today though....as always, my 5 year son enthused about every.single.thing and commented on everything he saw whereas my 9 year daughter just smiled and took it all in quietly.

My son has a Christmas list as long as his arm whereas my daughter doesn't really know what she wants.....exactly the same as my own brother and I all those years ago!

I have always loved musicals since I was a small girl and watched them with my mother....last night I watched "White Christmas" with my daughter and smiled as she really got into the film and got teary at the end - just as I do every time I watch it :)

All my online shopping has now arrived - except for one item which I am thinking I might have actually hidden away somewhere and forgotten about!!

Sledging in the snow at Highgate Woods tomorrow....wish me luck!!
