The Tree Is Up!

We were in NYC one year for the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, it was absolutely beautiful....

So our Christmas tree is now up and I am just putting the final touches to the decorations. Decorating the tree is a big deal for me for some reason....short of wearing a snowflake jumper or dressing as an elf, I like everything to be just right before we start....Christmas music playing, hot steaming hot chocolate with marshmallows and cookies ready, I like it to go perfectly.....I guess I just I want it to be a perfect memory....

As it turned out, none of our white tree lights worked (bad planning I know, I should have checked them beforehand!).....and the new sets that my husband bought today are horrible not as lovely as I would have liked (they were all that were left)....my son stood on one of my favourite glass ornaments....I think my favourite Christmas CD got left in the car which we sold in the summer and everyone started to decorate the tree while I was in the kitchen making hot chocolate and trying to find the Christmas marshmallows I had bought for the occasion!!

But of course the tree looks beautiful as it always does every year, we watched "Elf" as we decorated and my son made us all smile by asking if he can be an Elf like Buddy when he goes to college. I told him that of course he could. 

And those are the moments that stay with you.
