I have barely paused for breath since I came back from Italy earlier this week, arriving back to a whole pile of urgent bits and pieces.....phew!!
In my quest to travel light (for once), I forgot to pack my camera....so no photos.....sorry!!
I do have to confess though that I am in fact going to Italy again. Next week!!!!!
I do have to confess though that I am in fact going to Italy again. Next week!!!!!
I am off to Rome for 4 days with my daughter to celebrate her 10th birthday.....I am beyond excited.
There will be photos. Lots of them :)
My visit to Emilia-Romagna was absolutely fantastic though....
we are very privileged to have a family home there which does mean we can wind down and settle into Italian life very quickly, it's become a home from home.....I feel very at home there and have done since my first visit there two years ago.

My favourite parts....
....the peace and quiet, it is incredibly relaxing...one day we saw only 3 cars!!
I am a city girl but I love a bit of serenity too :)
....sunshine with bright blue skies every day....a very welcome surprise....
....the stars at night-time were incredible, I had never noticed them so much before - and nor had I ever seen so many, it was just beautiful....
....the scenery.....enormous rolling hills and beautiful old stone houses
....hearing my children learning new Italian words - and loving doing it....
....the coffee. Need I say more!
....the people are so kind and friendly....it's a very small place so people do probably recognise my husband, but it is so nice to be somewhere where people cannot do enough for you and are so welcoming....
....the food....
we shopped at the market, cooked for ourselves, ate out and ate as guests with family....
it was all fabulous.
My favourite dish though was - by far - homemade egg pasta (eggs from the chickens running around outside) filled with marrow grown in the garden by my husband's Zia Lina....the best pasta I have honestly ever had in my life....we tried it with and without a wild mushroom sauce(made with mushrooms grown from local hillside)....both were AMAZING!!!
So, just time to unpack my suitcase before I head off again next week :)
I'm a lucky girl I know!!
The winner of the Dr Perricone Giveaway was
