Nine Years Later

Nine years ago today our lives changed forever. September 11th, 2001 was a normal sunny day like any other as we awoke, picked out our outfits, ran to Starbucks and rushed in to work. However, by days end the skies were black. Years come and go in the blink of an eye and it is easy to forget about what really happened that day, however as Americans we can never forget! Lives were lost and families were torn apart as the country many of us call home was attacked. Today we remember the fallen and honor the heroes. September 11th reminds us that freedom is not free! I am SO proud to be an American and am blessed to lead the life I do. I am thankful for the men and women that put or have put their lives on the line for me every single day and will always consider them heroes!

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
