I had such a fun day yesterday....my daughter and I spent the day in town, London's "West End" as it is known.
One of my cousins is getting married in 3 weeks time and called me on Thursday to ask if my daughter would like to be one of her flower girls.....YES PLEASE!!!! Not much notice to buy the dress, but we were planning a day in town anyway....can you believe that we found THE dress in the 3rd shop we went into!! It's pale pink satin with a pink tulle underskirt, the top is a wrapover style with a sash and a flower detail at the waist and it's ballerina length....it's beautiful and fits her like a glove.....thank goodness......I had visions of endless shopping expeditions to find just the right dress.

We met a good friend of mine for lunch who I haven't seen for years.....I'm not in town very often these days and it's been way too long....we used to work together and became great friends....he was the Will to my Grace....some very funny times and great memories. Now I live in Mummy-land and he is a well known fashion director/buyer/designer, who travels the world each month, has a riverside townhouse in west London and an apartment in Ipanema Beach, Brazil. It was absolutely fabulous to see him, we went to a very cool noodle bar for lunch and talked nonstop....wonderful! Some days you realise that friendship is all that matters isn't it, everything else is just trivia and a great friendship is the best thing in the world....yesterday was definitely one of those days.
We then met my mother for a long coffee and a little shop.....and managed to coax her up the escalators to the baby department where we were both buying a gift for a friend in NYC who had a long awaited baby girl this week. My mother has lived in London for 35 years and has only been on the Underground (the subway) once in all that time and avoids lifts (elevators) and escalators wherever possible.....yesterday we held both her hands and she did it!! Wahoo!
My final stop was Borders bookstore.....I remember when the first one opened in London about ten years ago and finally I could buy US magazines here.....I LOVE magazines, really really love them.....last night I bought 5......yes 5, I really do love them :)
Today, we are making "family cookies"....oatmeal, raisins and cinnamon and are going to attempt to make home made ice cream -without an ice cream maker......I will report back!

Finally, I just picked up some DVDs for the children and "24" season 1 for myself.....I am a huge "24" fan.....I absolutely LOVE it......only one superhero for me and that's Jack Bauer......I have seen every season except Season 1......can't wait to watch it :)
